These photos are of the friends and
teachers I met at culinary school,
and also of the Gleeson family.
Emie, the grandmother of the family,
immigrated from Slovenia when she was
a young girl.
Her specialty was apple strudel,
and it often appeared at family
parties.
On this day,
we were celebrating Emie’s
70th birthday.
Family and friends gathered together
to celebrate her.
